Upon reading the Daily Mirror today, once again I was greeted with a disgruntled Claudio Ranieri. Apparently, he is not happy about the meetings that Roman Abramovich had with Sven Goran Eriksson.
However, both the official Chelsea site and the London Evening Standard seem to think everything went well when Claudio met up with Roman.
Mr Abramovich took the time yesterday to meet up with CR and talk about his plans for the club, plans which seemed to meet with those of Claudio. They spoke about players and Ranieri received reassurances over his future.
Roman then went to the training ground and, through an interpreter, told the players of his plans for the club.
And in today's Evening Standard, a source close to Claudio Ranieri said " The meeting went well and Claudio will be staying. Abramovich took the time to talk to the players on a one-to-one basis and explained his vision for the club. He wants to bring in new players but will give the current squad the chance to prove itself."
Pini Zahavi, the Israeli agent who aided Abramovich in his takeover of the club, is also helping recruit new faces- and he has insisted that only the best will do for our new owner... "Mr Abramovich is trying to get the best players possible. He will not buy defenders but wants to get the best midfielders and strikers in the world. Only the best available will do."
So if we're not interested in defenders (unsurprisingly) who did bid for Alessandro Nesta???
