Andre Villas-Boas is facing an FA charge after he blasted the referee and his two assistants following the Blues 1-0 defeat against QPR at Loftus Road this afternoon.
“We were superior to QPR,” said the Portuguese manager by way of a warm-up statement to the main event.
“QPR had one penalty and cross.
“I am proud of my players today – we are one point behind Manchester United and we still have to play Manchester City twice.
“I have a problem with the referee. The penalty could have been given or not. If he (Chris Foy) gives the Luiz’s penalty he has to give ours too.
“There is a difference in critical judgement – the three officials were controlled by the emotion of the crowd, not the 4th official, he kept his calm.
“The three were uneven in their decision-making.
“The refereeing is not Premier League level - maybe we were unlucky with the refs we have had as we were on the end on wrong decisions at Manchester United and Stoke City.
“The ref was very, very poor.
“I spoke to him afterwards, I was aggressive with Chris Foy.
“This was a good day for us (as we played well) but a bad day for the referee.
“We are not cry babies, but this pattern is happening and we hope good decisions will go our way.
“The ref was card-happy with the players. If the ref had made good judgement with both teams we would have won.”
