Tragedy struck Benfica at the weekend when Miklos Feher died during the match against Vitoria Guimaraes.
The Hungarian international dramatically collapsed towards the end of the 1-0 success, and, at the tender age of 24, was pronounced dead after being taken to Guimaraes hospital.
Feher's death has worrying echoes of Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foe's tragic collapse during the Confederations Cup last year.
"At 21.45, Miklos Feher, 24, was brought into emergency care with a cardiac arrest," stated Fausto Fernandes, a clinic director at the local hospital.
"Immediately, all emergency measures were taken. This lasted until 23.10, without success, when the player was pronounced dead.
"The body of the unfortunate player will stay at the hospital where it will undergo an autopsy on Monday."
