Sergio Aguero's alleged wage demands revealed

Sergio Aguero is rumoured to want a weekly wage of around £220,000 (€250,000) from his next club when he leaves Manchester City as a free agent at the end of the season.

Aguero will bid farewell to City this summer when his contract expires, bringing to an end a 10-year career in Manchester.

The Argentine, who is City’s all-time top goalscorer by some distance and the highest scoring foreign player in Premier League history, will turn 33 before the start of next season but could still prove to be a shrewd short-term signing for any number of top clubs.

According to a claim that first appeared in Gazzetta dello Sport, Aguero is said to be asking for an annual gross salary of €12m, which breaks down to €250,000 per week, or £220,000. That figure would represent a pay cut on his the contract he currently he has in Manchester, although not by much as it is estimated to be worth between £230,000 and £260,000 per week.

Aguero has been linked with a number of clubs since his upcoming City departure was confirmed last month, including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham.

A move to Barcelona could mean playing at club level alongside international teammate Lionel Messi, while PSG will be in the market for forwards if Kylian Mbappe leaves. Juventus may also consider Aguero in their ongoing attempts to win the Champions League.

It has previously been rumoured that, despite a decade with City, Aguero is keen on staying in England. That has strengthened 90min's exclusive story that Leeds United are interested in signing the forward. Chelsea, who want a striker even though they spent £120m on Timo Werner and Kai Havertz last summer, have also been linked, as well as, more recently, Tottenham.

It has specifically been suggested that Aguero is motivated by the idea of increasing his Premier League goal tally, which currently stands at 181. As mentioned, it is already the highest by a foreign player, but it would only take another 28 goals to overtake Wayne Rooney as second overall.
