John Terry has finally come out and decided to tell everyone that he is staying at Stamford Bridge.
As Chelsea-mad confirmed on Thursday, the Blues skipper is staying at Chelsea and not heading off to Manchester City.
There's the usual I'm committed to the club stuff but it's his rationale about the timing of the statement that is interesting.
In his statement he says: "I know there has been comment that I should have made a statement earlier. However, throughout this period there have been numerous discussions between myself, the owner and the Chelsea Board and we all agreed that the timing of any statement would suit everyone involved in those talks, not any outside influences or agendas."
Ah well, there you go Chelsea fans, you are bottom of the list when it comes to knowing what's going on at your club.
Don't be surprised by it, but think twice before purchasing the latest club shirt with a 26 on its back.
What was the nature of the talks between him (his agent) and Roman?
Nah, of course you won't know - officially.
The bit he does say refers only to the club's ambition for the future - what club doesn't have ambition, eh?
He also cites other players have got new or improved contracts - well isn't that dandy.
Nothing is mentioned about if he was offered or demanded an improved contract?
Why doesn't JT make any mention of that?
Could it be that, as chelsea-mad understands, he agent was pitching for a contract extension and increase in salary. He used the confirmed interest from Manchester City to ramp up the pressure on the Chelsea board to cave in to the demands. But did they?
Clearly some deal has being made.
It's believed that shortly - within weeks, JT will get most of what he wanted. Chelsea will save face by not delivering just yet and JT can appear to be the Chelsea king he aspires to.
So, Chelsea will like to think all is done and dusted.
I think, you the fans might have something to say about that.
Anyhow, the brand-awareness trip Stateside is nearly over, just one more mis-match to go. Then the Blues are back in the UK.
JT will have his first domestic outing since his "Great Statement" when the Blues face Reading on August 1.
What will you be shouting from the stands?
Have your say on the messageboard now.
