Assistant manager Gorman took training today while manager Glenn Hoddle was attempting to make further "advances" within the transfer market. Following the session Gorman met the media and spoke positively with regard to the attitude of his players ahead of tomorrow's "battle" at Stamford Bridge.
"The lads' spirit has been excellent," said Gorman. "We've trained today and they are up for it, I can assure everyone. It's a derby, a big game and the lads are ready for it.
"Chelsea are obviously a very good team with some quality players - the likes of Zola, Gudjohnsen and Hasselbaink up front, Lampard and Petit in midfield and Cudicini in goal.
"But we played very well against them back at White Hart Lane in November and Cudicini was the difference that day. "
"We know it's a big game for us after Newcastle. Chelsea is always a tough fixture but the lads are determined - the belief is there."
Midfielder Simon Davies believes Spurs need to adopt a physical approach to cope with the derby occasion.
He said: "With everything that surrounds the Chelsea fixture it puts extra emphasis on us to win. We've got to go there and give it our best shot.
"It is going to be difficult. They are playing very well at home and we've got to go there and battle it out and get into them. It would be hard to play them off the park, we've got to go there and get amongst them and show them we're not there to be taken."
It seems that Spurs have already decided how to cope with the genius of a certain Gianfranco Zola as Anthony Gardner has been set the "little" task of man marking the diminutive Italian.
He said of the Italian, "With Zola you've got to be aware of his movement. He's very sharp, he's not really going to come and battle against you so you've got to keep an eye on him.
"He's very clever at bringing people into the game. When he's got the ball and you're not marking him you need to know where your man is because he's very good at finding them in behind you."
With Spurs talking with such confidence and passion it seems that this year Spurs might actually give us a game..........?
