The new pitch is said to be ready in time for the next home game aginst Fulham on 6 March. Desailly was less than happy with the current state of the pitch and the club's attempts at covering it, "The pitch is terrible. I mean, they have been painting the pitch to let us think that the grass is still there. We have to look after it. We will try and sort it out because we cannot play. We are the kind of team that likes to play the ball on the floor".
And it appears as though Desailly's complaints have not fallen upon deaf ears when MD Colin Hutchinson announced, "It is costing "£125,000 and will be ready for our next home game against Fulham. The turf has come from the same fields in Lincolnshire as the Old Trafford resurfacing was taken from. It is like carpets being rolled out".
Hopefully the new pitch won't affect the Blues' current rich vein of form. They are now unbeaten in their last 6 league and cup games...
