With Carlo Cudicini out for up to a month, Sullivan could have expected to see a lot more playing time. But like his luck on the pitch this season, things haven't gone so well off the pitch either!
A thigh strain rules Sully out of the Bolton clash tomorrow- although it is not yet known if he will be out for longer. That means that Marco Ambrosio will start for only the second time in a Chelsea shirt- his only previous start game against Notts County in the League Cup. He conceded two goals in that game and generally looked uneasy on crosses.
Yves Makabu-Makalambay will be his back up, after he made the trip to the north west.
In a situation like this, I cannot understand why Lenny Pidgeley is not recalled from his loan spell at Watford- unless his contract does not allow that. He has shown real promise for the Hornets this season, and has more experience of the English game than Ambrosio and Makalambay put together.
And how are we going to ever know if he is good enough for Chelsea if he doesn't get a chance? With Petr Cech arriving in the summer, it looks like Pidgeley has no chance of proving himself at Chelsea...
