Terry, a great admirer of the midfielder, described Jody as, “the most natural footballer that I've ever come across”.
With Jody yet to extend his current contract with the club that nurtured and developed his natural talent and potential through the Chelsea youth ranks, Terry is obviously concerned that the battling, skilful midfielder will be allowed to slip through the Chelsea door marked “exit”.
Terry, captain at last weekends victory over Shrewsbury in the FA Cup, was quick to point to Jody's recent success in front of goal.
"It was a great goal by Jody against Shrewsbury. It was his first for a couple of years, but it was worth waiting a couple of years for a top-corner one like that," he declared.
"I desperately hope things are worked out for him here soon because he's still available for nothing at the end of the season and now he's not just a great midfielder, he's a great goalscoring midfielder!"
Given the recent outstanding form of both Frank Lampard and Manu Petit, Morris has had difficulty in maintaining a regular first team place, but Terry, speaking in a recent Chelsea TV interview, made it quite clear just how much he rates and values Jody’s talent, even tipping him for an England call-up.
"It's been difficult for Jody as he'd been playing really well and then Manu has come back and gone straight into the team again," he said.
"That was a bit unfair on Jody, given the way he'd been playing. But fair play to him, if he keeps his head down and gets a regular run in the side, I wouldn't be surprised if Sven-Goran Eriksson picks him."
Such concerns over Jody’s future have not been voiced by the ever calming influence of Claudio Ranieri. The Italian boss simply and clearly stated his admiration for Jody’s talent and made reassuring noises with regard to his future.
Ranieri said, “He's a fantastic player and I believe in him. When I call upon him, he's always perfect and, sooner or later, they will discuss a new contract with him”.
Like John, Jody is so important to Chelsea's future. Chelsea MUST NOT this talent slip through the transfer net. What's past is past...give Jody a future and let it be at Chelsea!!!!!
