"In my humble opinion, Franco is definitely one of the top 5 players ever to pull on the Blue shirt.
He's been a major influence on the club since his purchase for a bargain £4.5m in 1996; all his peers obviously agreed in '97, making him the rightful Footballer of the Year.
He also has a disciplinary record that is second to none, whilst (more importantly) scoring some fantastic and vital goals.........where's the bad news ??!!!
He obviously struggled last season as Claudio tried to find the best strike combinations.......and it looked certain he would return to Italy. But a pre-season of hard work in the gym has seen him return as good as ever, and he is probably the first name on the team sheet.
As long as he is happy to continue at the club he loves, give him a new contract for next season and then persuade him to stay and coach."
