Thiago Silva has completed a medical ahead of his imminent move to Chelsea.
The revered Brazilian defender is a free agent after departing Paris Saint-Germain following the expiration of his contract. Silva's final game as a PSG player was this season's Champions League final which they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.
According to Sky Sports, Silva underwent and passed a medical in Milan on Thursday and is now waiting to sign the documents that will make him a Chelsea player.
Silva is expected to fly from Italy to London soon, where he will then enter a 14-day period of self isolation before joining up with Lampard's squad. It is thought he will join on a lucrative 12-month contract, with an option of a one-year extension.
Ever since it was made clear that Silva would be leaving Paris, Frank Lampard has been in pursuit of the 35-year-old. Along the way, they faced competition from the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Wolves but Lampard has now got his man.
The Blues will be hoping that Silva helps to tighten up their leaky defence next season. Chelsea conceded 54 goals during the 2019/2020 campaign - the worst record of any side in the top half. Silva is set to become Lampard's second defensive recruit of the window, after Ben Chilwell, as he looks to rectify this.
Chilwell and Silva will also be joined at Stamford Bridge by Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech but fellow recent signing Malang Sarr - signed on a free transfer after his release by Nice - is set to spend the season out on loan.
Chelsea also appear to be edging closer to the signing of the much coveted Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz. The Blues are understood to have agreed a whopping £90m fee for the player who is widely considered one of the best young players on the planet.
