Blackburn Chief Executive John Williams has revealed that a bid was made by Chelsea last night, but was then rejected today.

It was widely thought in the media that the third bid had been accepted, yet Chelsea-Mad's trip to the Official Blackburn Rovers site proved otherwise.

The official words of John Williams are: "We received the third bid last evening and have today rejected it."

The news will come as a body blow to the Blues, who view Duff as a crucial signing. Yet this new offer must surely take us closer to the £17 million that is needed to trigger a release clause in Duff's contract.
