Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti would prefer that his charges only won 4-0 against Stoke City yesterday rather than the actual 7-0 if he was guaranteed to score two or three at Anfield next week.
Chelsea goes to Liverpool in the knowledge that victory and a defeat for Manchester United at Sunderland would see the Premier League title return to SW6.
“We played very well,” said the Italian.
“But I would prefer to have kept two or three of the goals for next week.
“I know that if we win our next two games we will be champions.
“Anfield is the most important game now – but Liverpool will fight for it as much as we will now.
“Our philosophy is to attack and use the quality of our players to score.
“Chelsea play good football and when we do that we are happy – the destiny of the title is in our hands.
“There was pressure on us before the game,” he admitted.
“But we are an attacking team – we have scored 93 goals in the Premier league.”
Stoke have to go to Old Trafford on the last day of the season and on this showing won’t give Manchester United too many problem.
“We were murdered,” admitted Stoke boss Tony Pulis.
“We were lucky to get nought,” he added.
Chelsea hammered Stoke City 7-0 with three goals from Salomon Kalou, two from Frank Lampard and a goal apiece from Daniel Sturridge and Florent Malouda.
