Birmingham have shown an interest in Jesper for about a month now, but no decision has been made by Chelsea or the Danish winger. Jesper is currently back in Denmark due to a family illness and looks set to miss the start of Euro 2004. But regardless of his showing at the tournament, there will be no shortage of takers for him...
Brum owner David Sullivan said "It's a battle between us and Valencia for him. I would say at the moment it's 60-40 in our favour that he will come.
"We don't believe he wants to leave the country and we think he wants to join us. At least, these are the noises we keep hearing. In an ideal world, we'd like to have it signed and sealed before the European Championships start.
"But, as we all know, that perfect world doesn't exist. We are working on it and are still hopeful.
"If it doesn't happen, so be it. There are a lot of other options for us to consider and we shall be looking at all of them. Gronkjaer is a good player but if it falls through we shall simply go elsewhere."
Jesper was Claudio Ranieri's second signing at Chelsea- will he be his first signing for Valencia?
