Juan Sebastian Veron will appear before a judge on 2nd December, after his original trial, scheduled for Thursday, was postponed.
The Argentina international is accused of forging an official document in order to acquire an Italian passport in September 2000.
Playing for Lazio at the time, Veron was just one of many names to the bogus passport scheme, as at the time, clubs were limited to the number of non EU citizens they could field. This caused clubs to want to register as many players as possible as EU citizens, to allow them all to play at one time.
A Rome judge postponed Veron's trial until December 2nd, while the defence are considering the possibility of a plea bargain to the charges of forging an official document.
"We have been able to postpone the hearing until December 2 in order to consider the possibility of plea bargaining," Veron's lawyer Marcello Petrelli said. "Veron will have to appear in court on that date."
