After apparently failing in a bid to sign Christian Vieri, Roman Abramovich and Claudio Ranieri have been forced to look elsewhere.
Samuel Eto'o is also being linked, although Mallorca's asking price for the Cameroonian star seems to be a stumbling block. Chelsea are willing to pay no more than £10 million, Mallorca want £15 million. The reason for such a high asking price is that Mallorca have to pay Real Madrid 50% of any fee, as they still hold half of his registration.
So the latest name linked is unsettled Leeds striker Mark Viduka. The Aussie scored 20 Premiership goals last year in a poor Leeds side, which has only got worse!
His agent told the BBC website, "We are waiting - I am in contact with most of the important clubs in Europe about Mark. I can say Chelsea is one of the clubs we are in contact with, but for now the most important thing is to close a deal before we talk about it."
