England coach Fabio Capello would not be drawn on theEngland future of Frank Lampard.
Using a deft verbal dexterity and a surprising understanding to the not so subtle question – ‘What did you think of Lampard’, he answered: “All the players did the same. They played good and they played bad.
“But Lampard was in the first eleven. I wanted to have a man covering the back four and another playing further forward to support Wayne Rooney.”
So there you have it – make of that what you will.
I wonder of Capello will have a private word with Frank in the same way as he with Andy Carroll.
England beat Wales1-0 at Wembley to be with a point of qualifying for next year’s euro 2012 championship.
Will Frank be on the plane?
It’s certain that Capello won’t be England boss after the championships. His most likely replacement is Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp is of course lamp’s uncle.
It might just be a case of Frank hanging on in there and outlasting Capello’s tenure to ensure he reaches the magical 100 caps. He’s only 12 away now.
