Wingers Left To Fight It out
Jesper has been inconsistent in a Chelsea shirt (to put it nicely!) since arriving from Ajax as Claudio's first signing. He revealed: "All the changes have been tricky to take in and I sometimes wonder whether it has benefited me.
"I don't know if you could say I've gone backwards in my time at Chelsea, but I've certainly gone sideways.
"I'm definitely not the same player as when I came here.
"I was seen as a great player at Ajax, but perhaps that is because the Dutch league is easier. It's difficult to say.
"I'm a left winger first and foremost but I have never played there regularly for Chelsea and I certainly haven't had a look in since Damien Duff arrived in the summer and that has been very tough."
And Duffer himself has spoken out about his position- despite not playing for the past 2 months!
"If I was the manager, I would play me on the left wing every time," said the Republic of Ireland star.
"Everbody knows it's my best position. But football does not work that way.
"I am moved around all the time at Chelsea."
Who will win the nod to start on the left flank against Arsenal?? Looks like Jesper will as it seems unlikely that Duff will have recovered from his achilles injury in time...
