After Marcel Desailly's comments in the weekend tabloids about how he is hating life at Chelsea, etc... it was only going to be a matter of time before someone stood up for him.
Step forward Chelsea's newest hero... Sir Frank Lampard. Lamps, who seems to appear on Sky Sports more often than some of the presenters, has revealed how the comments were taken out of context and that Marcel is happy at Chelsea.
And Marcel himself, in true French style, has issued a "I never said them things" statement. Basically, he can't understand why the English press have decided to pick on him. You'd have thought the guy would have learnt what the English press are like by now! Saying that, he brings a lot of it on himself. And it doesn't help that he comes across as one of the most aloof and arrogant people about! Well, if you don't include the rest of the french population...
The biggest news, however, is the revelation that Carlton Cole has been named as one of the footballers who was arrested for allegedly raping a 17 year old girl. Newcastle's Titus Bramble was also named.
For most of you, this news will not come as a shock. It was one of the worst kept secrets in football! What is a shock is that Carlton Cole was involved. It will be a terrible shame if he has let himself down, because his football career will be as good as over if he is convicted. But let's not forget that he's innocent until proven guilty!
And finally, onto Mario Melchiot. I'm beginning to understand his situation a bit more now. John Terry today revealed that Melch's is out of contract in the summer- leaving him able to talk to other clubs in January to negotiate a Bosman free transfer for the end of the season.
Perhaps he wants to leave the club and refused to sign a new deal, thus forcing Claudio to thrust Glen Johnson into the spotlight. Or maybe Claudio doesn't want him anymore and is willing to just let him leave on a free.
That would explain why his appearances have been few and far between this season... Whatever the case, you would expect the whole thing to be sorted out by the end of January.
