Carlo Cudicini- Didn't have an awful lot to do, but made one brilliant save from Damien Johnson, whilst also saving at the feet of Stern John. 7
Glen Johnson- Poor performance yet again from Johnson. And Claudio knows it- why else do you sub your right back with about 10 minutes to go?? 6
Marcel Desailly- Commanding performance from Marcel, in place of the injured JT. Led the defensive line well, although most of what they were up against were long balls. 7
William Gallas- Another solid performance from Billy, which should have been capped by a goal. Still, his job is to help to keep the goals out, not step in for our misfiring strikers... and he certainly did his job at the right end! 7
Wayne Bridge- Decent performance by Bridge, although I feel our back four looks more at home with Baba in the line up. Took too long to get his attacking game in place, but looked assured defensively. 6
Jesper Gronkjaer- Woeful. Subbed at half time. 5
Claude Makelele- Was pressurised by Savage from the word go but, despite not having his usual space in midfield, Maka still put in a steady performance. 7
Frank Lampard- Tried to gee the team into life, and it worked at times as we looked like making the breakthrough. Forced Taylor into making a decent save, as well as hitting one just over. 8
Joe Cole- Decent performance first half but, as usual, tailed off in the second. Unlucky not to score when his brilliant run was capped with a great shot at goal which agonisingly hit the post. 7
Eidur Gudjohnsen- The enigma. Seems to play well one game and then have a stinker. Didn't get enough of the ball although he did make some good runs, not to mention pulling off some nice flicks. 6
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink- Not a bad game for Jimmy, as he worked hard and battled for the ball more often than usual. But the breaks just weren't going for him on this day... 7
Subs
Damien Duff- Came on for Jesper at half time, and frightened the life out of the Birmingham back line. But he didn't have the end product for a change today. Will soon be back to his best though. 7
Adrian Mutu- Replaced Joe Cole and had plenty of running in him. Many of our best moves came via Mutu and he surely cannot be left out for our next Premiership game at Blackburn in a fortnight. 7
Mario Melchiot- Not enough time to have an impact, offered more attacking wise in the last ten minutes than defensively. N/A
