Player Ratings: Everton (h)

Marco Ambrosio- Didn't have an awful lot to do, but was called in to action to make two spectacular saves from Rooney. The first was a close range effort that Marco managed to kick away superbly, and the second was an athletic save from a curling free kick. 8

William Gallas- Replaced early on after injuring his hamstring. Didn't have enough time on the pitch to make any impact. N/A

Marcel Desailly- Marshalled the defence well and made sure that Robert Huth was always comfortable. He's still a class act and, with Gallas a doubt for the Monaco game, he looks to have cemented his place in that game. 8

Roberth Huth- After a fairly shaky showing at Villa on Monday, Robert was given a chance to make amends against Everton. Handled Rooney well for most of the game, and looked assured alongisde Marcel. 8

Wayne Bridge- Defensively he was rarely troubled, but wasn't at his best offensively. Seemed to want to do too much although that is not surprising after his European antics against Arsenal. Needs to go back to basics though... 7

Geremi- Another average showing from Geremi. Never seems to excell, but you can guarantee he will put in at least one decent cross a game- just a shame our strikers were misfiring. His short passing is still too sloppy though. 7

Scott Parker- Tackled strongly, used possesion well. Still needs more time to really settle in, but he did his job and that is all you can ask of him. 7

Frank Lampard- One of his better Premiership performances in recent weeks, and he deserved a goal. A wonderful right footed shot came back off the bar in the first half, and he almost scored in the second when his left footed daisy cutter came back off the post. Great performance! 9

Joe Cole- Always looks dangerous without ever really doing any damage. He needs to start taking control of matches, but he was over shadowed by his ex-West Ham team mate Lampard. 6

Adrian Mutu- Second poor performance in a week- Adrian certainly seems off his game at present. Earlier in the season, when he was not scoring, he retained his place due to his excellent performances. But now he is doing neither, and in danger of becoming an outsider. 6

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink- Apart from one piledriver, Jimmy had a disappointing game. He had several good chances which he squandered, many of which were from close range. Must be more clinical if he wants to keep his place in the team. 6

Subs

Mario Melchiot- Came on for Gallas early on and offered more balance to the defence. A steady showing after his Villa Park nightmare last week. 7

Jesper Gronkjaer- Replaced Joe Cole and, like Mario, offered more balance to the side. His pace frightened Everton, but it was his fellow substitute, Felipe Oliveira who made a real impact... 6

Felipe Oliveira- A surprise substitute performance in place of Scott Parker, but he looked very threatening. Got at the Everton defence and wasn't afraid to cross the ball. Definitely worth a go on the right wing instead of some of our other high profile players... 8
