Firstly, here are the quotes from Frank: "We have to score goals, we have not been scoring frequently enough and that is down to the whole team not just the strikers."
No Frank, it is down to the strikers. I could understand his argument if there weren't chances being made, but the fact of the matter is that chances are being squandered. In our recent barren run, which has now gone on for over a month, we have had the chances to win all of the games that we have drawn or lost.
Adrian Mutu has been the worst culprit in terms of missed chances, failing to score in his last 11 games. His general play is excellent but he is missing chances far too easily. However, it seems to be the kind of problem that can all be changed by a goal!
But that doesn't excuse Crespo, Gudjohnsen and Jimmy. Until they all start scoring like we know they can, we are going to continue to falter. It amazes me that Frank Lampard is our second top scorer. Not because Frank is a poor player (much the opposite actually) but because of the talent we have in the attacking deprtment.
Are the strikers suffering from the rotation policy? Not knowing if they are going to play in a run of games. I don't know what it is, but Claudio needs to sort it. Otherwise this goal drought could be the beginning of the end for his reign as Chelsea manager...
