Chelsea 2-0 CSKA Moscow

Despite a stuttering start, it was Chelsea who would take the lead in the opening ten minutes. A Frank Lampard corner drew the keeper out but, fortunately for Chelsea, he completely missed! This allowed Eidur Gudjohnsen to head the ball across goal for the unmarked John Terry to turn the ball in... 1-0 Chelsea!

The lead was scarcely deserved as CSKA continued to force the play. Petr Cech made possibly his best save in a Chelsea shirt as a driven cross deflected off Eidur Gudjohnsen 6 yards from goal, forcing Cech into a tremendous reflex save.

After that the Blues managed to get more of a foothold in the game and we soon found ourselves 2-0 up on the stroke of half time. Frank Lampard swung in a wicked free kick for Eidur Gudjohnsen to head in unmarked. 2-0!

After the interval it was a frustrating passage of play for Chelsea as our approach play was excellent, we just lacked the final ball. Mateja Kezman, still looking for his first goal for Chelsea, had absolutely no service and as a result got frustrated and hacked down a Moscow player. This earnt him a ridiculous yellow card and, not long after, Jose Mourinho subbed him!

The only other thing of note from the second half was the re-emergence of Scott Parker! He came on to raptorous applause from the Stamford Bridge faithful and looked sharp for his ten minutes on the field. One crunching challenge earned the approval of the fans, if not the referee!

So it is another three points in Europe for the Mighty Blues! And on a week which saw Man Yoo, Arsenal and Liverpool all draw, not to mention Celtic's 3-0 loss in Ukraine, it was all the more sweeter for us...
