Eden Hazard set Chelsea on the way to a derby night victory over Spurs at Stamford Bridge, scoring the first in a 3-0 win that maintains their six-point lead at the top of the premier League.
A further first-half strike by Didier Drogba cemented the goals advantage before substitute Loic Remy cooly slotted home number three.
Spurs had plenty of possession but had little cutting edge apart from an early flourish, particularly from Harry Kane.
Jose Mourinho's game management was spot on as the home side absorbed the pressure, without ever feeling totally threatened and broke with devastating effect.
Early pressure from the visitors saw successive corners. Both dealt with comfortably by the Chelsea rearguard.
On four minutes harry Kane scooted past Bransliav Ivanovic and was taken spdown by the Sebia defender. From the resultant free-kick, Jan Vertonghen headed just of Thiabaut Courtois's crossbar. He and Gary Cahill clashed heads and both received treatment.
Three minutes later and Kane was desperately unlucky to see his header bounce back off the angle of right post and crossbar of Courtois's goal.
Kane then twisted the blood of Cahill as Spurs piled on the pressure and the Young striker flashed a daisy-cutter of a byline drive across Courtois's goal. thankfully for the home side, no Spurs players were able to get close to the ball for what would have been a simple tap-in.while on top, Spurs needed to score while on top and stuffer end accordingly on 17 minutes when a cross-field ball by Ivanovic, found Eden Hazard, just outside the Spurs area on the right.
The Belgium midfielder turn 360 degrees around Aaron Lennon and finished off a smart 1-2 with Didier Drogba by blasting past Hugo Lloris at his near post for his sixth goal of the season.
Two minutes later and it was 2-0 to the Blues. Oscar found the perfect defence-splitting ball to Drogba who ruthlessly slotted the ball past Lloris from just inside the penalty area.
Willian could have put the game beyond Spurs but his powder-puff shot from just inside the penalty area was easily held by Lloris.
Jose Mourinho replaced Cahill at half-time with Dutchman Kurt Zouma. Cahill had a torrid first half and the clash with Vertonghen where he received treatment on his head may have contributed to Mourinho's decision.
Like the first half, Spurs started the second on the front foot, hoping to get an early break to get themselves back into the match.
Mauricio Pochettino soon made changes of his own, on 59 minutes bringing on Nacer Chadli and Paulinho for Aaron Lennon and Ryan Mason.
Drogba had a great chance to extend the lead two minutes later but he scuffed his left-footed effort after Oscar in a fine let wing cross.
Another solo effort by Drogba, saw the ex-Ivory Coast hit man produce limp shot on target that failed to trouble Lloris. Wo minutes later on 66 minutes he was replaced by Lioc Remy
With Spurs dominating possession, ache
Chelsea increasingly found themselves in counter-attack mode, the introduction of speed merchant Remy for Drogba - a natural game- management tactic.
Against the run of play, the league leaders hit number three with 18 minutes left on the clock. Remy found himself on the end of Cesar Azpilicuet's pass. The Frenchman confidently cut inside and slotted home a cool, right-footer past a hapless Lloris.
Sensing the game was all but over, Mourinho decided to cement the three-goal advantage by replacing out of sorts Fabregas with defensive midfielder Mikel two minutes later.
