Chelsea produced a sensational goal-scoring fest to overcome a 2-0 first leg deficit against Spurs in the FA Youth Cup semi-final tonight at Stamford Bridge to beat their North London rivals 5-2 and go through to the final 5-4 on aggregate .
They will play either Man City or Leicester City in the two-legged final.
Spurs even took the lead to make it 3-0 before strikes from Dominic Solanke and Isaiah Brown put the Blues in the driving seat. Further goals from Solanke again, a brace from Chalrlie Colkett, one a penalty put Chelsea firmly into the tie. A dubious penalty for Spurs eight minutes from time gave the visitors some hope, but Chelsea held on to a deserved victory.
After an uncomfortable opening period for Chelsea, the home side gradually gained a foothold in the match.
A deep cross cum shot by Jake Clarke-Salter on 29 minutes, from the left wing, almost caught Spurs goalkeeper Harry Voss cold, but the stopper grabbed the ball late on as it seem like it was heading for the top left-hand corner of the net.
A minute later, and against the run of play, for the Blues, Spurs' striker Shayon Harrison took advantage of sloppy defending to hook the ball into the net from six-yards out to put the visitors 1-0 up.
Chelsea skipper Charlie Colkett tried his arm with a blistering 30-harder, which, while it had the pace lacked direction as the home side kept their composure.
A minute later and Chelsea opened up the visitors again, Isaiah Brown crossed from the right byline but striker Tammy Abraham could not stretch his legs far enough to tuck the ball home. Instead, the ball trailed wide for a throw-in.
The Blues got themselves back in the games with five minutes of the half remaining, when Dominic Solanke slotted home with unerring accuracy, a smart right-footed volley on the six-yard box from a left-footed Brown cross.
A brilliant goal-line save a minute later by Clarke-Salter thwarted Spurs' Charlie Owens.
Just before the whistle, Brown, easily Chelsea's most dangerous player rammed home from close range to put the Blues 2-1 up but only 2-3 down on aggregate.
Tammy Abraham had a fine chance to increase the home side's lead, but Kyle Walker-Peters disposSessegnon the striker As he was about to lash the ball into the net. But Chelsea were not down-hearted, and a minute later, on 51 minutes, Solanke rose above the Spurs' defence to powerfully head home to make the score 3-1 and 3-3 on aggregate.
Then sensationally, two minutes later, Charlie Colkett put Chelsea ahead in the tie for the first time with and audacious free-kick which flummoxed Voss. He left his near side unguarded and the skipper curled a daisy-cutter from 20-yards out past the embarrassed stopper.
Harrison forced Bradley Collins into a low dove to his left with an edge of the box drive. Then Charlie Owens rattled the Chelsea post as Spurs went in desperate search of an equaliser.
Chelsea right-back Ola Aina almost extended the lead, on 62 minutes, when his mazy run saw his low left-footer inch towards goal but Voss just managed to grab hold of the ball.
Spurs' youth team coach Kieran McKenna made his first change on 67 minutes, bringing in Chris Paul for Owens.
But just as his Chelsea counterpart Joe Edwards was about to introduce Charley Musonda to the fray, Chelsea were actually awarded a penalty when Aina was hauled down in the area by Walkes.
Up stepped Colkett to cooly slot home Chelsea's fifth to make it 5-1 on the night and 5-3 on aggregate.
Bizarrely, with nine minutes on the clock, Spurs got one back after referee Graham Scott decided that a brilliant sliding tackle on Harrison by Fikayo Tomori hit the defender's hand. Harrison stepped up and rammed the ball past Collins to make it 5-2.
A nervy few minutes for the majority of the 3,666 crowd ensued but the referee, after putting five minutes of added time on the clock, finally blew his whistle to signal a fourthsFA Youth Cup final om the spin.
