Seattle Sounders 2 Chelsea 4

Last updated : 19 July 2012 By Paul Lagan

Romelu Lukaku hit a brace and new signings Eden Hazard and Marko Marin scored on their Chelsea debuts as the European Champions defeated Seattle Sounders 4-2 in the first pre-season match of their USA tour.

Belgium hitman Lukaku, a loan target for Fulham opened the scoring after three minutes at the CenturyLink Park stadium.

Hazard doubled the lead seven minutes later.

But the tourists were pegged back within half an hour, both strikes coming from Fredy Montero.

Chelsea, without all their Euro 2012 stars re-established their superiority and Marin and Lukaku grabbed a goal apiece before the half-time whistle.

Roberto Di Matteo rang the changes in a score-less second half, with Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Ramires and having a run-out.

The third new signing Kevin De Bruyne also wore the blue shirt.

Chelsea home-grown Todd Kane, George Saville and Lucas Piazon also saw some action.

Quite how many of these players will be starting the league games in August is debateable, but they all will have a shout of impressing as the Chelsea head off to New York to face Carlo Ancelotti’s Paris St-Germain in the Yankee Stadium on July22.
