Player Ratings - Bolton (a)

Last updated : 13 March 2004 By Liam Corbett
Marco Ambrosio - First half man of the match. I'll admit, I was un-comfortable knowing he was there. But he proved me and everyone wrong. Very good performance with several vital saves to keep us in the game. 9

William Gallas - Looked un-comfortable playing at right back at times. Tended to come back in side and allowing Okocha to cut inside on him. Did cover the centre half pairing of Terry and Desailly very well. 7

John Terry - Took his goal as well as any centre forward would have. Scored a fantastic goal and stopped Bolton's long ball game having any noteable effect. Had Pedersen in his pocket all game. Man of the Match. 9 (Thanks JT, I had a quid on you first goal!)

Marcel Desailly - The Rock returned and never crumbled. He was immense at the back with JT, and never let anything get past him, especially in the second half. 8

Wayne Bridge - Another solid game from Wayne. Happy to run forward with the ball, and defended well when called upon. Coped well with having the player in front of him constantly changed, from Duff to Gronkjaer, back to Duff and then Joe Cole. 7

Geremi - Didn't do a lot in the middle. Looked clumsy in poccession. Delivered one decent free kick but lost too many 50-50 tackles. 6

Frank Lampard - Looked better than he has been recently. Had one magnificent effort tipped wide by the keeper. (I'm not even going to try spelling his name!) Played through a couple of nice passes to the front two. 7

Jesper Gronkjaer - Lost interest towards the end, but was willing to run all day and actually put in some decent crosses! I'll repeat that so you don't think it was a mistake. He actually put in some decent crosses today! Hit the post in the first half but was un-necessarily offside, as he could've checked his run possibly. 7

Damien Duff - Got a good goal and provided the cross for the John Terry Strike. Switched wings often and played very well. Excellent delivery all day from crosses and set pieces. 8

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink - Greedy! Could've laid off Joe Cole for a strike late on but didn't. Miscommunication with Crespo cost either of them a goal, as both went for the same free header. Normal Jimmy then! 6

Hernan Crespo - Offers a lot as a target man, more than Hasselbaink. Had one snap shot in first half that should've been put on target. Taken off for Joe Cole, and looked tired towards the end. 7

Subs:

Joe Cole - One mazy run that resulted in shot cleared off the line. Didn't work with Jimmy when playing off him. 7

Robert Huth - Played too short a time to get a rating.

Scott Parker - Played too short a time to get a rating.
