Player Ratings: Charlton (a)

After letting in 4 goals there last season, Chelsea seeked revenge and boy did they get it, this time it was us who hammered 4 goals past a helpless Charlton defence!! John Terry scored two, in between an opener from Damien Duff and capped by a great finish from Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Petr Cech - Made one good save from Euell, nut was rarely called into action. Came out and claimed crosses well on several occasions. 7

Paulo Ferreira - Very good game. Up and down the right wing and coped with the danger of Thomas brilliantly. Never let him get any real decent ball in and was strong in the tackle. 8

John Terry - Immense at the back, never beaten in the air, and finished the two chances he got from set pieces. A legend no doubt! 9

Ricardo Carvalho - Lucky not to score an own goal, and should've put one away at the other! A free header from 6 yards and it flew over. Defending though was good and was also strong in the tackle and in the air. 7

William Gallas - Tried to claim Terry's second goal! No chance! Made at least two noteable surges forward and looks like becoming our regular left back, ahead of Bridge. 8

Tiago - Quality, again, for the third game running. Seems to have adapted well to the pace of the Premiership and has chipped in with a couple of goals. Like Gallas, starting to make that position his own. 8

Frank Lampard - Played a world class through ball for Gudjohnsen and his all round general play was top notch. Great passing, short and long, and unlucky with a couple of decent efforts on goal. 8

Claude Makelele - The battery in the watch is showing no signs of running out! Another simple play performance from Claude, linking attack and defence so well, giving licence to Robben, Duff, Lampard and co to go forward more freely. 8

Damien Duff - Great early goal and was unlucky not to win several fouls, where he was kicked and pushed off the ball on numerous occasions! Still, kept his head down and also put in some quality set pieces from corners and free kicks. 7

Arjen Robben - Another great showing, running at defenders and shooting scares defenders to death. Taken off late on, as was Duff, for a well deserved rest and to make sure they're fighting fit for the Newcastle and possibly Fulham games. 8

Eidur Gudjohnsen - Took his goal superbly with a deft touch. Looks to be loving the target man role. Also with a great assist for Duff's goal with a through ball similar to that he played for Robben against Everton. 7
